InfraCore® Inside Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP)

InfraCore® Inside Technology was originally developed for load bearing, damage tolerant FRP structures and is the backbone of SIS’ FiberCore FRP composite bridges and road decks. The InfraCore® Inside Technology enables the manufacture of strong, robust and fail-safe FRP composite structures capable of withstanding very harsh environments and up to 60t load limits.

FiberCore Europe is a sister company of InfraCore® and has now manufactured over 900 FRP composite bridges and road decks. These cost-effective solutions for the infrastructure sector are all based on the worldwide patented InfraCore® Inside Technology. This has resulted in an unprecedented track record, with a wide portfolio of applications delivered such as various types of bridges and bridge decks.

InfraCore® Inside Technology has successfully solved one of the major challenges of manufacturing FRP composite bridges, by making delamination of sandwich panel structures, especially due to fatigue after impact, impossible. Through clever design which allows for both the top and bottom flanges to be connected via the webs with single reinforcement sections, delamination can not occur under design loads. This also leads to this technology only requiring non-structural foam for manufacture. Even the manufacture of hollow structures is possible, thereby facilitating further functional integration, or even lighter damage-tolerant structures.

The inherent fail-safe of the InfraCore® Inside Technology has been proven and validated by tests, performed by certified institutes and universities and witnessed by recognised classification establishments. The InfraCore® Inside Technology also allows FiberCore Europe to offer a modular structural approach through a manufacturing technique using a reconfigurable mould which leads to product and process optimisation and lower costs. This enables the manufacture of proven and validated, cost-effective, easily scalable, lightweight, durable, maintenance free FRP composite structures.
