An original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, manufactures product or components that are purchased by another company and retailed under that purchasing company’s brand name. OEM refers to the company that originally manufactured the product.

SIS WPC’s are produced by thoroughly mixing ground wood particles and heated thermoplastic resin. The most common method of our production is to continuous length extrude the material into the desired shape although SIS have also been pioneers in the injection moulding of WPC. SIS OEM WPC’s may be produced from a variety of recycled thermoplastics including HDPE, LDPE, PP, ABS, PS, and PLA. Polyethylene based WPCs are by far our most commonly manufactured products. Additives such as colorants, coupling agents, UV stabilizers, blowing agents, foaming agents, and lubricants help tailor the end product to the target area of application. We can extrude WPC’s into both solid and complex hollow profiles.

SIS offer the OEM market with two different manufacturing options, firstly where the constituents are combined and processed in a pelletizing extruder, which produces pellets of the new material – the pellets are then re-melted and formed into the final shape. A second method is completing the finished part in a single step of mixing and extrusion.

SIS understands that there are two distinctly different corporations / individuals that approach us to manufacture products on their behalf. These are firstly where a new product is being developed from its infancy and feasibility studies are being conducted on this material and secondly, where an existing product manufactured from more standard materials such as timber or steel is to be re-birthed due to either performance issues with the existing or to increase a products environmental credentials.

SIS understands that during the development process of any new product there is in most cases a fragile path of which needs to be walked in relation to the intellectual property rights associated with designs, drawings etc. SIS treats intellectual property of all its clients with the up most sensitivity and can be trusted as a development partner of any OEM component or product.

A cost estimate for calibrated continuous length tooling for WPC components is between $5,000.00 – $10,000.00 USD.
